Welcome to Greenwich

An elegant town deemed a cultural hub with a sophisticated flair

There is something special about Greenwich that makes it one of the most highly sought-after places to live. Between the upscale art, entertainment, dining establishments, and cultural events, there’s always something happening and something to explore. Settled in 1640 by Elizabeth Fones Winthrop, daughter-in-law of John Winthrop, the town has played a significant role in many events, especially during the American Revolution. The enchanting town has four beaches along the Long Island Sound, where residents can go to enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, or sprawling out on the sand. Several festivals take place throughout the year, from arts and culture to food and film. Residents enjoy strolling in and out of the many upscale boutiques in Greenwich’s historic downtown, indulging in a delicious meal at one of the local restaurants, or relaxing at one of the many green open spaces.

People & Lifestyle

The crown jewel of Connecticut's Gold Coast and among America’s wealthiest communities, Greenwich remains a place synonymous with luxury lifestyle. Just a 50 minute train ride from New York City, its 67 square miles are home to luxurious residential estates, exquisite restaurants and posh boutiques. Headquarters for more than 400 private investment funds, it has been called “The Hedge Fund Capital”. While offering a quiet exclusivity, Greenwich has a diverse and affluent group of residents from all over the world. A year-round cultural and artistic hub as well, its residents actively support drama, music, dance, literature and the fine arts. The Bruce Museum, Greenwich Symphony Orchestra and yearly “Art to the Avenue” festival along Greenwich Avenue are all testament to the reverence with which local patrons view culture and the arts.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Prepare for exquisite dishes, memorable dining experiences, and gorgeous boutiques spotted throughout Greenwich. The Greenwich Avenue Historic District is a bubbling downtown area — and the heart of town — that is known for its beautiful architecture and is impressively listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The streets are full of lofty stores and restaurants, such as Intermix, Vince, Saks Fifth Ave, and Stuart Weitzman. On the avenue, you’ll find Richard’s, which is an elegant bi-level showroom that features upscale and great quality fashion for men and women. L’Escale is a fine French dining restaurant nestled inside the Delamar Hotel and along the water. A reservation on the outdoor waterside patio or inside the elegant interior space is perfect for a romantic night. Tony’s is a fabulous restaurant in the J House boutique hotel that serves refined New American plates and craft cocktails. Le Fat Poodle is a classy spot with a cool terrace that dishes out bistro favorites and international fare, wine, and drinks and so much more!

Things to Do

In Greenwich, fun is elevated everywhere you go. At the Bruce Museum, art and science come to life in downtown Greenwich. The main building, which is perched on a scenic hill that overlooks downtown’s park, houses an art and natural history exhibition space. The museum’s iconic tower can even be spotted from the interstate! Roger Sherman Baldwin Park is the perfect green space with a view; it looks out on Greenwich Harbor and boasts an open lawn, nature viewing, and summertime events. Greenwich Point Beach is a beautiful place for a walk, a barbecue, or relaxing on the soul-soothing beach. Greenwich Town Party is a recurring music festival in town where residents come together for a day of concerts, dancing, food, and fun.
